Learn More about Phi Phi Islands

Visiting the islands of Koh Phi Phi is a must during your stay in the Phuket and Krabi regions

This small archipelago of islands in the Andaman Sea is a treasure of Thai nature.

The main island is called Ko Phi Phi Don and it is the only one that is urbanized, so this is where you will book your hotel. In the center of the island are the ferry terminal and the starting point for sea excursions. We will explain to you how to get to Koh Phi Phi (boats, local transportation), give you our advice to book your hotel, as well as advice to plan your sea trip to the wonders of the archipelago: Koh Phi Phi Ley with Maya Bay (made famous by the movie The Beach), Viking Cave, Piley Lagoon and Loh Sama Bay.

On Ko Phi Phi don, Monkey beach and further north the beach of the deserted Bamboo Island.

When arriving in the bay of Ko Phi Phi Don, the main island, one feels the frenzy of tourist activities of the place with a multitude of boats of all sizes arriving and leaving. At the time of disembarkation, it is necessary to pay a tax of 20THB, not included in the price of the ferry ticket. The first surprise is that there are no cars or cabs, except for some electric vans for deliveries. Many hotels have employees waiting with signs on the pier.

Otherwise, you have to make your way with your luggage through the narrow streets to your accommodation. Luggage porters with their carts will offer their services (up to 200THB for the hotels farthest from the pier). It is not essential but very practical when arriving to avoid having to look for your accommodation among hundreds of restaurants, massage parlors, travel agencies, and tattoo centers. We quickly understand that the whole island lives at the time of the tourists and that it is not here that we will find the peace

. On the other hand, it is a first choice base to plan your sea excursions. Numerous restaurants and bars will liven up your evenings: good atmosphere, correct prices. Here we are far from the sulfurous districts of Patong, with a rather young clientele seeking to have fun without excess. We advise you to spend a minimum of two nights here and to plan a full-day excursion to the sea in the middle of your stay. Then, go to the southern islands or the coast towards Krabi, with hotels offering a better quality-price ratio in a wilder setting.
